I have tasted both Indian and Pakistani versions of those foods which can also be found across the border. The Pakistani ones have a distinct taste of their own. Indians tend to over spice their dishes whereas the Pakistani ones are more on the greasy side but definitely they both taste different.

No Pakistani food list is complete without the mention of Nihari, Haleem and Biryani. You missed two, says my French wife.

With such authentic and tasty food, I am baffled by those who want to pay exorbitant prices for imitation and bland 'western inspired dishes' and greasy burgers!!!

Dawn, why do you publish such good pictures? Mouth-watering and these make me think of home. Friends, The food is exactly the same as we have India. After all, we were all one earlier. Same food, same DNA, same culture. What else do we need to be friendly?

These are all Indian food items and have been very popular in India and have been popularised by Indians the world over.

Samosa chaat is a travesty of innovation in food. It is an assault on a purist's senses. Someone has destroyed the essence of both items and produced a confused mash with no aligning characteristics. It brings both items down in value, a match made in trash can probably. Cease and desist from projecting it as a legitimate 'dish'!

Why we both countries fight. If we unite together then India will be a superpower like Russia & america. And yes more powerful than stupid, arrogant Chinese.

Beautiful n mouth watering food reminds me of home. Dawn has the habit of teasing its overseas readers from time to time. But pity at looking at these dishes is the presentation n photography of these lovely food could be improved and the containers a bit better looking.

@Goga Nalaik : Bro, just in case you like South Indian food, you may want to visit Sharavana Bahavan - assuming you have not visited already. I can vouch for the authentic Indian taste. It is all vegeterian though !

For some reason I always find that Pakistani food is best cooked in house rather than at restaurants. I guess it is down to the fact that Pakistani food requires lots of patience and attention to detail which can not be done properly by restaurant.

@Vivek Lol why you Indians are always moaning the creation of Pakistan in every possible instance? Sometimes too much friendliness irks us. It's okay to be friends but please try to respect our identity instead of violating our space like an immature neighbour who bugs in other's affairs at any opportunity.

I am really looking forward to eating these delicacies. What about Pakistan promoting "Foodie's Tourism" targeting mainly neighboring country. This can create lots of local employment and as well create foodie constituency across the border. Road to neighbors heart could be through good food.

Have you tried the famous "rosogolla" a.k.a. "rasgulla"-s?Even those who are dieting can take them. By the way, isn't there anything light? Like poha ?

How about discussing the hygiene practiced by the serving staff and the quality of the food? Focus on innovation. No new food was innovated on past 100 years. This is the fact.
