Bilal Maqsood is set to release the fourth season of his popular puppet show Pakkay Dost on August 22, the musician announced on Wednesday.

In a reel shared to his own Instagram account as well as the show’s, Maqsood reiterated his earlier point about how his goal for the programme was to make the kind of “healthy, wholesome” content in Urdu that would make the language “cool and relevant” for kids.

Actor Syra Yousuf, who stars in the show as Mimi, also appears in the reel.

The singer said there were some very interesting songs in this season, about things like exercise and vegetables to promote a healthier lifestyle. He also said there was a song about what different bones are called in Urdu.

Kindness and compassion towards animals are also themes discussed on the show.

Maqsood asked parents to watch the show with their kids, since he designed it with both groups in mind. “When I write, compose the songs, [I feel like] there’s no point if I am not having fun,” he said.

The singer said anyone who hadn’t seen the show yet should start from the first season. “There are around 50+ songs that will have you learning things and your kids will be learning to love Urdu.”

Pakkay Dost has been trying to make children appreciate Pakistan’s culture and languages throughout its three-season run, with past collaborations with ConnectHear and the Government of Sindh making the show available in Sindhi and sign language.

The show is available to watch for free on YouTube.
