The teaser and trailer for an upcoming film Psycho directed by Shaan Shahid were launched at a local hotel in Karachi on Sunday evening.
The film will be released on Eidul Azha.
Addressing the media after the two short screenings, Shaan, who also stars in the film — alongside Meera, Sonya Hussyn and Shabbir Jan — said whenever he comes to Karachi, he gets the feeling that a lot is about to take place.
He acknowledged the love that he has received from Karachi pointing out that be they films, dramas or pieces of literature… Karachi is the first one to recognise, appreciate and accept them. “People from the whole country come here.”
With regard to the film, he said when an artist goes through the process of evolution, he feels he needs to challenge his craft, he doesn’t want to do run-of-the-mill work. “We could have also made a romantic film, it’s no big deal. But good artists challenge themselves, they don’t remain in their comfort zone… Screen is not a small thing. I think there’s great space in it.”
Shaan then thanked the producer, Salman Butt, cast and crew of the film.
Meera praised the director and said she’s very emotional and excited on the occasion. “We saw a dream and the dream has come true. It was all Shaan’s idea. I love you Shaan bhai very much. You have made such a good film for the Pakistan film industry.”
Like the director, the actress extended gratitude to the producer of the project.
Sonya Hussyn, too, was all praise for the film and its director.
Shabbir Jan said he’s been working in the showbiz industry for the last 40 years. Some people used to say to him he shouldn’t confine himself to TV (where he did most of his acting assignments), and that he should work in the movies. But by that time he hadn’t received any serious film offers.
“Things take place when the time is right for them. I was asked to do a guest appearance in Psycho and the work was to be done in two days. I think Shaan liked my work so he extended it from a couple of days to eight days,” he said.
