With tensions flaring across the Middle East, Pakistan finds itself in a precarious situation. Amidst this crisis, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has entered the arena, armed with his greatest weapon: the telephone.

The PM has had 13 phone calls over the last seven days with leaders across the world where he expressed Pakistan’s deep concerns regarding the US-Israeli war on Iran and Iranian counter attacks.

X, of course, had a few things to say about the premier and his phone habits.

Many users were just worried for the PM’s health — and phone bill.

Likely concerned about the negative effects of spending too much time on the phone — ask your nearest Pakistani mum — some called for the phone lines to the PM’s office to be disconnected.

Speaking of mums, someone even — correctly — compared Shehbaz to them and their innate ability to regularly make long calls. Seriously, what do they even talk about for over an hour?

Another user — likely born after landline phones stopped being a thing — asked how long it took the battery on the PM’s phone to die.

Though it seems unlikely, given the number of calls he has made, users wondered if there was someone Shehbaz had forgotten to call amidst the chaos.

Others, however, had to admit that the PM was having his moment in the sun as the voice of reason in a region on fire.

All jokes aside, the exchange of missiles, bombs and drones between Israel, the US and Iran continues unabated into its seventh day, with over 1,300 people killed so far, including at least 190 children.

Despite efforts from a number of countries — including Pakistan — the warring parties have not agreed to come to the negotiating table, so there is no end in sight to the fighting.
