Danny Ocean‘s crew is back for another job — that’s what George Clooney told Variety in an interview published on Tuesday where he confirmed the original ensemble cast from Ocean‘s Eleven (2001) and Ocean’s Twelve (2004) was set to return for Ocean’s 14.

Tess Ocean (Julia Roberts), Rusty Ryan (Brad Pitt), Linus Caldwell (Matt Damon) and Basher Tarr (Don Cheadle) will be getting back in the game for the movie, which Clooney insists is not a “nostalgia play”.

Inspired by the 1979 crime caper Going in Style, the film shows the team as older, but wiser criminals. “There was something about the idea that we’re too old to do what we used to do, but we’re still smart enough to know how to get away with something, that just appeals to me,” the Up in the Air star told Variety.

“They’ve lost a step, and they need to find a way to work around their limitations,” he said.

Earlier in October, Clooney told E! that the budget for Ocean’s 14 had been approved by Warner Bros, and we now have confirmation that the team is scouting locations, with filming set to start later this year.

It is unclear whether the star’s own character in the series, the ringleader Danny, will make a comeback after he was presumed dead in the last film, Ocean’s 8. A prequel to the series focusing on Danny’s parents is also in the works, with Barbie star Margot Robbie working on development with director Jay Roach.

President Trump celebrates as Clooney becomes French citizen

Meanwhile on a personal front, Clooney became a French citizen earlier this week along with his wife and eight-year-old twins. The star said he appreciates the country’s privacy laws and how they protect his family from being hounded by paparazzi.

With Clooney being a staunch critic of US President Donald Trump, the news of his French citizenship was met with jubilation from the White House, with Trump posting on Truth Social, “Good News! George and Amal Clooney, two of the worst political prognosticators of all time, have officially become citizens of France which is, sadly, in the midst of a major crime problem because of their absolutely horrendous handling of immigration.”

The actor told Variety it wasn’t always like this and that he and the president used to be friends. “I knew him very well,” Clooney said. “He used to call me a lot, and he tried to help me get into a hospital once to see a back surgeon. I’d see him out at clubs and at restaurants. He’s a big goofball. Well, he was. That all changed.”
