South Korean actor Song Jae-rim found dead at 39
South Korean actor Song Jae-lim was found dead at his home in Seoul’s Seongdong Ward on Tuesday. He was 39.
The actor’s passing was confirmed by the Seoul police, according to Variety. Police reports noted that Song’s body was discovered at his home at around 12:30pm by a friend who had planned to meet him for lunch. The cause of death has not been disclosed yet but authorities noted there were no signs of foul play.
A note was reportedly found at the scene, but further details have not been released in respect for the family’s privacy during this difficult time.
Song, sometimes also referred to as Song Jae-rim, began his career in 2009 with the film Actresses. His breakthrough role came in 2012 when he portrayed a loyal warrior to the king in the historical drama Moon Embracing the Sun.
He cemented his popularity in 2014 with his appearance in the reality show We Got Married, where he appeared in 38 episodes. Among the actor’s final projects was the action-comedy film Get Rich, which entered post-production in late September.
In a statement to Yonhap News Agency, Song’s family expressed a desire to hold a small, private funeral with only close family members in attendance. They hope to grieve out of the public eye and honour his memory in an intimate, personal setting.
