Apparently everybody wants this: Netflix’s Nobody Wants This renewed for second season

Netflix’s Nobody Wants This, the hit new romantic-comedy starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, has been renewed for a second season, Deadline reported.

Nobody Wants This follows the love story between Joanne (Bell), an agnostic podcast host, and Noah (Brody), an unconventional rabbi.

According to the publication, the pickup comes with a showrunner change. The show was originally created and executive produced by Erin Foster, who remains its creative voice. Now, Girls alums Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan have come on board as executive producers and showrunners for season two, leading a writers room which has been open for a couple of weeks.

The deals with Konner and Kaplan were made before the comedy’s September 26 release as one of the strongest launches ever for a Netflix original comedy series. Nobody Wants This opened at number 2 when it dropped and rose to the top spot in its first full week, amassing an incredible 26 million views in its first 11 days of release.

“Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me,” Deadline quoted Foster as saying. The producer drew inspiration from her personal experience for the series.

“The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed. I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls… Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic.”

“It’s a dream to be working on Nobody Wants This,” Konner said. “Erin is the rare creator with a crystal clear voice and a genuinely collaborative spirit. I am a true fan of Erin’s show and also feel so lucky to be back in a room with two of my favourites, Bruce Kaplan and [writer] Sarah Heyward from Girls.”

Kaplan added, “I am excited beyond belief to be a part of season two of Nobody Wants This, created by the hilarious Erin Foster. It is such a unique and beautiful show and I am already having the best time working on it.”
