Veteran actor and comedian Abid Kashmiri passes away at 74

Veteran actor and comedian Abid Kashmiri passed away in Lahore on Friday. He was 74.

Radio Pakistan confirmed the news. Kashmiri’s family revealed that he had been ailing for some time and had serious medical issues related to his kidneys, as well as had difficulty breathing, Geo News reported.

The actor had been living and working abroad for a while. During his recent visit to Pakistan, he continued working until his health allowed him, the news outlet reported.

Kashmiri is survived by two sons and two daughters.

He was born on May 4, 1950 in Lahore. He acted in several TV dramas, stage and films, and won hearts for his spontaneous comic acting. In 1988, he was awarded the Nigar Award for Best Comedy Actor for his film Bazar-e-Husn. Other noteworthy works include Lohari Gate, Suraj Ke Sath Sath, Samundar, Apnay Log and Teesra Kinara.

Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider Khan expressed grief and sorrow over the actor’s demise.
