Veteran actor Mazhar Ali passes away at 70
Veteran television actor Mazhar Ali passed away on Monday in Karachi at the age of 70.
According to PTV, the actor had been battling a protracted cardiac illness. He was receiving treatment for his illness and had recently come to Pakistan from America.
Ali started his career at PTV and played memorable roles in several dramas, including Afshan, Shaheen, Kali Deemak and Kaanch Ki Gurya.
He is survived by his widow and three children, who reside in Houston, his sister, Ahla Imran told Geo News. She stated that Ali had been admitted to the hospital for three weeks and passed away in his sleep.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed grief and sorrow over the demise, and stated that Ali’s services to television would always be remembered, APP reported.
Shah said that the deceased was a good actor and entertained viewers.
Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar expressed heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased.
Tarar said he was deeply saddened to hear the news of Ali’s death. “Today we have lost a great artist and a respected human being,” he remarked.
“Mazhar Ali mesmerised us with his artistic skills and made a home in our hearts with his acting,” he said, adding that Ali’s death caused an irreparable loss to the Pakistani drama industry.
Actor Bushra Ansari expressed her grief in an Instagram post, sharing a picture of her with Ali.
“Lots of memories with this great actor and gentleman,” Ansari wrote.
