Rapper Megan Thee Stallion sued by former cameraman over sexual harassment, weight-shaming

American rapper Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, has been sued by her former cameraman Emilio Garcia for subjecting him to sexual harassment and weight-shaming comments. A representative for the artist has denied all the claims.

Garcia, who worked for the artist from 2018 to 2023, has also accused her of creating a hostile work environment.

An attorney for Megan called Garcia’s suit “an employment claim for money — with no sexual harassment claim filed and with salacious accusations to attempt to embarrass her”. He said it will be dealt with in court.

One of his claims includes being trapped in a moving vehicle with the ‘Hot Girl Summer’ rapper while she had intercourse with a woman. According to NBC News, Garcia filed the suit in the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday in which he claimed that he was warned after the alleged incident not to “ever discuss what you saw.” He was also berated, fat-shamed and treated differently by Megan.

In the lawsuit, he said that he traveled with Megan to Ibiza, Spain, in June 2022 and the alleged incident took place while in an SUV with Megan and three other women after a night out.

“I felt uncomfortable. I was kind of frozen, and I was shocked. At kind of just be the overall audacity to do this right, right beside me,” Garcia told NBC News in an interview.

His suit claims that the “harassment was so severe or pervasive” that it created a “hostile, abusive work environment” that made his “working conditions intolerable”. He also alleges that his pay structure was changed after the trip, from “a monthly flat-rate to a pay-per-task” arrangement. He was not, however, allowed to work for anyone else during this time.

Garcia said he felt degraded by the alleged fat-shaming remarks and was surprised to hear them from “someone who advocates about loving your body.” The lawsuit claims she allegedly told him to “spit your food out” and that “you don’t need to be eating.”
