As the month of Ramazan begins, so does a plethora of new entertainment on the silver screen. Television channels have announced several new shows, encompassing numerous genres — comedies to romances to the usual, typical dramas.

We compiled a list of all the new TV shows coming to you this Ramazan!

This HUM TV comedy is written by Hassan Imam and directed by Ali Masud Saeed. It features Khaqan Shahnawaz and Aena Khan in the lead roles and is produced by Momina Duraid Productions.

Umm-e-Ayesha

Actor Nimra Khan is set to star as the hijab-wearing lead in Umme Ayesha, a new Geo Entertainment show directed by Saleem Ghanchi and produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi.

In an exclusive comment to Images, Nimra detailed that the show focuses on the struggles of a woman who wears the hijab, including issues such as “losing out on jobs because of her attire” and facing discrimination during the rishta process.

The show also follows her clashing with the ‘modern’ and ‘worldly’ male lead, played by Omer Shahzad (who she’s probably going to fall in love with — this is, after all, a Pakistani drama).

Umme Ayesha will air daily at 6pm on Geo Entertainment, from March 12.

Rafta Rafta

Rafta Rafta marks Saheefa Jabbar Khattak’s return to television after a four-year break. The Green TV show also stars Zaviyar Nauman Ejaz and Hina Dilpazeer.

In an exclusive comment to Images, Jabbar said the six-to-eight-episode comedy series will be directed by Khalik Khan and written by Hassan Imam.

The actor said that Dilpazeer will be playing her mother in the “fun and cute series”. She maintained that she was “grateful” that there was “no crying or slapping” in the show — stereotypical elements present in a majority of Pakistani dramas.

According to Green TV’s official Instagram, the romcom shows the “chaotic world of a couple whose relationship swings between passion and frustration faster than you can say,‘I love you…I hate you!’”.

Rafta Rafta kicks off on March 16, and will air every Saturday and Sunday at 8pm.

Nasihat

According to Green TV’s Instagram, “Nasihat, which means advice or counsel, is indeed a series of lessons to remind us of important aspects of life that we might overlook in our day-to-day activities. It’s always beneficial to reflect on such wisdom to lead a more fulfilling life”.

The trailer highlights that the drama will follow the lives of different characters, struggling with their flaws, trying to make it in the world.

The show stars Faysal Quraishi, Sami Khan, Samiya Mumtaz, Hina Dilpazeer and others.

The show will begin airing on March 16, every Saturday and Sunday at 7pm.
