Drama Kuch Ankahi’s ‘refreshing’ rivalry and ‘organic’ moments have netizens hooked

Sajal Aly and Bilal Abbas have united for another project after their recent film Khel Khel Mein and it seems like their chemistry is working its charm. Their drama Kuch Ankahi, with just two released episodes, is being received really well by viewers who consider it a breath of fresh air.

Described as a “modern day, lighthearted drama”, the show discusses some heavy issues relating to women’s legal and religious right to property, harassment at workplaces and marriage pressure. Helmed by Nadeem Baig, the series has taken a cute and humorous approach to the storyline unfolding. Netizens are gushing over it on Pakistani Twitter and have particularly commented on the relatable and organic everyday moments, and the non-toxic bickering between leads and love interests, Aly and Abbas.

Kuch Ankahi is doing the enemies-to-lovers trope right.

We love it when art imitates life.

Serendipity at its finest.

We’re not too sure about that — ammi [mother] might have to get in line.

The seamless acting is making this user question whether a screen separates them from the characters at all.

Bechari [helpless] female leads are so last century.

Aaliya has got spunk and we’re digging it.

@ Netflix, you seeing this? Is Pakistani content Netflix worthy now?

A family drama, y’all!
