Bigg Boss star Rakhi Sawant has shaken up Indian media with the news of her marriage to long-time beau Adil Khan Durrani. She shared photos from their nikah ceremony to confirm her marriage after her supposed husband denied speculations that they were married to an Indian news channel.
On Wednesday, Sawant shared photos of herself wearing a white and pink sharara with a beige dupatta over her head while Durrani wore casual outfit, a black button up shirt with blue jeans, as they signed paperwork before being declared married. The two exchanged vows and then garlands around their neck.
“Finally, I’m happy so excited and got married my love is 4 Ever unconditional love for you Adil,” she wrote in the Instagram post. Also featured in the post were photos of what seemed to be her marriage licence.
In an interview with Times of India, Sawant said, “Yes, I got married to Adil in July last year after three months of knowing him. We had a nikah ceremony and a court marriage. Since he stopped me from disclosing it, I remained tightlipped for the past seven months. He felt that it would get difficult to find a suitor for his sister if people got to know about our marriage. According to him, tum Rakhi Sawant ke saath judoge toh tumne badnaami lee hai [If you associate yourself with Rakhi Sawant then that means you have invited shame],” she said.
“A lot happened while I was away locked up inside the Bigg Boss Marathi 4 house recently. I will talk when the time is right. At this point, all I want is to save my marriage. I want the world to know that I am married to Adil. Main bahut pareshan hoon isliye logon ke saamne meri shaadi aana zaroori hai [I am worried hence people need to know about my wedding],” she added.
Sawant was previously married to Ritesh Raj and the two appeared in Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 15. In the same interview with ETimes, she called marrying Raj a “mistake” and said she learnt a lot about him after they both participated in the reality TV show.
Durrani on the other hand has been mum about the wedding photos Sawant shared on social media. Rather than addressing any of the news, he has been sharing videos and photos of himself from a shoot for an upcoming project.
