Barack Obama likes to party — proof? His taste in music

When we think of Barack Obama, an image of the former US president in a sombre suit is what pops up. Listening to his 2022 music playlist has shattered our perception of him entirely as we can’t help but scream in glee and dance along.

On Saturday, he posted a list of his favourite songs this year as he has done in the past. “I always enjoy sharing my end of year music playlist with all of you — and this year we heard a lot of great songs. Here are some of my favourites,” he wrote. Last year, Arooj Aftab’s ‘Mohabbat’ made it to his summer playlist.

Though there aren’t any Pakistani artists on his list this year, it has got some of the most popular artists today and songs that are trending on social media. Bad Bunny, Lizzo, Beyonce, SZA and Rosalia are singers young people are most enthusiastic about. Obama’s music taste seems to be very upbeat, he likes to listen to tunes that leave you with no other choice but to shake it.

Obama is not basic though — nope. There are quite a few songs in the list of 25 that we’re not familiar with. The politician has got a diverse palate, that’s for sure.

He also posted his favourite movies of 2022. His taste in films seems pretty versatile too — action film Top Gun: Maverick, historical documentary Descendant and sci-fi movie Everything Everywhere All At Once made the cut.
