Taylor Swift plays a grieving daughter in upcoming film Amsterdam
American singer Taylor Swift is making her comeback on the silver screen in David O Russell’s next project starring Margot Robbie, Christian Bale and other big names. The ‘Love Story’ singer is playing Liz Meekins in film Amsterdam.
On Wednesday, a new clip was shared by the film’s official Twitter handle that revealed more about Swift’s character than the official trailer that released two months ago. She is seen as a grieving daughter who tells Burt, played by Bale, and Harold, played by John David Washington, she doesn’t know if she can talk about something followed by a scene where a dead body is presented to The Dark Knight star.
The new clip shows Swift outside a cafe in 1930s Amsterdam as she confesses to the duo that she doesn’t believe her father died of natural causes and something sinister may be at play. Her character seems to be a typical European woman of the time, dressed in a fashionable outfit — a dark green dress with her curly hair tucked into a short brimmed hat.
This isn’t her Hollywood debut though — her first Hollywood appearance was in 2010 holiday film Valentine’s Day alongside Taylor Lautner and Julia Roberts.
According to IMDb, the upcoming film follows three friends who witness a murder, become suspects themselves, and uncover one of the most outrageous plots in American history. They learn that something they witnessed holds the key to how the man died and that leads to them working together to uncover the truth.
The murder mystery also stars Rami Malek, Mike Myers, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert de Niro, Zoe Saldana, Timothy Olyphant, Matthias Schoenaerts, Alessandro Nivola, Michael Shannon and Alessandro Nivola.
Amsterdam will be releasing on October 7 in theatres. Swift will also be releasing her new album Midnights the same month.
