Kashif Pasta’s Desi Standard Time Travel starring Ali Kazmi to have US premiere at Tallgrass Film Festival

Director Kashif Pasta has an announcement — his sci-fi short film with a “ton of comedy and heart” Desi Standard Time Travel will be having a US premiere at the 20th annual Tallgrass Film Festival in Wichita, US.

Taking the news to his Instagram account, the director shared that the festival is a huge deal for him. “From the festival programmers to the attendees to the other filmmakers, the spirit of stubborn independence is alive and well in Wichita, Kansas and I can’t wait to see how our Pakistani-Canadian time travel drama with heart plays to an audience of non-South Asians in the heartland,” he wrote.

The filmmaker described the movie as a Pakistani-Canadian sci-fi drama. According to IMDb’s synopsis, the film follows a new father who suddenly loses his own dad and gets an opportunity to travel back in time for an evening, which gives him a chance to end things on a better note.

Actor Ali Kazmi, who stars in the film, also shared it to his Instagram stories and wrote, “Couldn’t be happier to have our US premiere at the 20th anniversary of Tallgrass Film. This festival has been a goal for a minute of the deeply supportive community of filmmakers and audiences they bring together.”

The film also stars Adolyn H. Dar who was recently seen in Superman & Lois, Anika Zulfikar, Sumit Dhingra and Harleen Uppal. It has been written by Aysha Aijaz, Nessa Aref and Pasta. It has been produced by Eric Bizzarri and Shyam Valera.

The film festival will be held from September 28 to October 2 this year in downtown Wichita, Kansas.
