Zayn Malik’s solo version of One Direction’s ‘Night Changes’ may be the best thing on the internet today

One Direction’s ‘Night Changes’ may have been released in 2014 but it has taken off in 2022 thanks to TikTok and social media users have been using the song to share their memories with close friends. Now, eight years since the song’s release and his exit four months later in March 2015, Zayn Malik has dropped his rendition of the main chorus on Instagram and fans of the band have united once again.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Malik shared a video of himself singing the acapella version of the chorus from ‘Night Changes’ originally sung by him and his former band mates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan.

Malik has been trending on Twitter and other social media platforms four hours since his post. His video has given One Direction fans, called Directioners, exactly what they’ve been waiting for since the last time he posted an acapella version of a One Direction song, ‘You and I’, in June.

Netizens can’t stop gushing over the video on Twitter and in his Instagram comment section.

One Twitter user was brought to tears.

Another didn’t know they needed this.

Directioners, unite!

His voice soothed people.

Zayn fans finally have content!

He’s out here destroying fans.

Is this a glitch in the Matrix?

Year made.

Malik quit One Direction in March 2015. “I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight,” read a statement issued at the time.

“I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world. The four of us will now continue. We’re looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour,” the Instagram post read.

Right after that other band members also launched their solo careers with Styles taking the lead by releasing hit after hit, his most recent his album being Harry’s House.

Malik’s 31-second video is proof that anything he releases will be a massive hit and that Directioners are still out there. His recent video has racked up 7.9 million views on Instagram in under four hours.
