Kylie Jenner called a ‘climate criminal’ after taking 17-minute flight on her private jet

What is a normal driving distance for the majority of the world is worth a flight on a private jet for multi-millionaire Kylie Jenner. The makeup mogul is on the receiving end of social media backlash for her short private jet travels and angry netizens are calling her a “climate criminal”.

Celebrity Jets, a page that tracks celebrity flights via data, shared a trip the reality star took on her private jet within California, estimating that the trip would take only three minutes as opposed to a 45-minute drive. They later clarified the travel time had been 17 minutes. While the Twitter feed normally lists the pounds of jet fuel used, the cost of fuel and the tons of CO2 emissions, it did not do so for her trip.

On Saturday, Jenner shared a black and white photo of herself with her partner, rapper Travis Scott in between two private jets captioned, “You wanna take mine or yours?”

While her friends hyped up the post, most of the comments were by outraged netizens calling her out for being so cavalier about her carbon footprint. If Jenner was trying to flex, it seemed to have backfired because people are not okay with their efforts for the conservation of the planet going to waste while “the 1% gets to pump tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere for a day trip to Palm Springs”.

Angered social media users took to Twitter to discuss how the elite use their jets “like a car”, ignoring the environmental impact they have for the sake of convenience.

Jenner also faced criticism in May for exoticising regular tasks when she went grocery shopping with her mother Kris Jenner and the duo raved about the experience. They also went to a car wash and compared it to Disneyland, calling it a “tourist attraction”. Netizens said the family was out of touch with what is the reality of the majority of the world and extremely careless when it comes to exercising their privilege.
