Is Taylor Swift engaged to long-term boyfriend Joe Alwyn?
Pause the break up songs — American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift is reportedly engaged to boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
According to The Sun, the English actor proposed months ago but the couple has kept it on the down-low. A source claims that they have "only told" their inner circle which consists of “basically immediate family, and trusted, very old friends”. The source also added that “everyone has been sworn to secrecy, too”.
According to the informant, the 'All Too Well' singer only wears her “beautiful ring” in private. “Again, only a handful of people know details about the wedding and Taylor hasn’t even told some of her team about the engagement,” the source continued.
“They want their love to stay away from the cameras as much as possible. This is just for them. And if and when they do exchange vows, there most definitely won’t be any Vogue, Rolling Stone or Hello! magazines there. It will be simple and elegant — like them.”
The couple has not officially confirmed the news though Page Six has reached out to them for comments.
A few months back, Alwyn addressed rumours claiming he secretly proposed to Swift in an interview with WSJ Magazine. “If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins,” he said. “I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say.”
They have been dating since 2017 and unlike her previous relationships — such as with Tom Hiddleston, Harry Styles and Calvin Harris — Swift has kept her relationship with Alwyn incredibly private with only a handful of red carpet appearances together. Their Instagram accounts have not one photo of them together.
While Swift, 32, and Alwyn, 31, have kept their partnership under wraps for five years, this isn’t the first time there have been reports of an engagement. One such instance was when in January 2020, the 'Carolina' singer donned a large diamond ring on her left ring finger in her Netflix documentary, Miss Americana.
In November 2020, the singer talked about the impact of having her romances be publicly displayed. She compared them to her current relationship and told Paul McCartney, “being in the relationship I am in now, I have definitely made decisions that have made my life feel more like a real life and less like just a storyline to be commented on in tabloids.”
