Women suffering ghag finally take a stand in Sang-e-Mah and netizens are moved by the 'powerful' scene
The moment has finally arrived — the latest episode of Sang-e-Mah rounded up the strong women who were victimised by the "social evil" that is ghag (a custom in which a man lays claims to a woman to marry her by force) and got them taking a stand for themselves. Pakistani Twitter is hailing the "powerful" scene, calling it a "masterpiece".
This Sang-e-Mah Sunday flipped the tables as leads Kubra Khan and Hania Aamir (whose character suffered ghag) go around convincing the women from the village who have also been targets of ghag to confront the council of men instead of hiding at home. The episode ends with the women marching towards the men's meeting and screenshots of the scene are circulating on Twitter as fans gush over the empowering turn of events.
Prior to the assembly of women, Khan and Aamir travelled across Laspiran to talk to women and that resulted in a very impactful exchange between Aamir and Sania Saeed who plays her hard-headed Pashtun mother.
"Betiyon ke marnay se acha hai ke ye gairat mar jaaye jo hum sab ko jeetay jee maar rahi hai. Sar jhuka kar kisi ki achi buri baat maantay jana gairat nahi hai, gulaami hai, amma. Agar tum chaahti ho meri beti bhi yahi gulaami karay, isi gulaami me rahay tou theek hai — na dou humara saath. Hum sab sar jhuka kar aesay hee baithay rahengay.
"[It is better for this sense of respect that is killing us to die rather than the daughters. Bowing your head and agreeing to someone else's idea of right and wrong is not respect, it's slavery, mother. If you want my daughter to also indulge in such slavery, then fine — don't support us. We'll stay put with our heads bowed]," Gulmina [Aamir's character] delivered the impassioned speech that got Saeed on board, embracing her daughter with pride.
It was unmissable and had netizens hanging on to every word.
The wordless walk was the star of the show though.
Fans said it's the kind of scene that stays with you long after the viewing.
Saeed's character has been a fan favourite — netizens are loving this woman whose presence has even the men quaking.
