Riz Ahmed and Jessie Buckley to star in Christos Nikou's sci-fi romance Fingernails
British-Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed has another project lined up and it's a sci-fi romance titled Fingernails alongside British actor Jessie Buckley.
On May 11, Deadline revealed that the upcoming film is set in a world where a test has been developed to measure whether couples are actually in love with each other. The test is purportedly to help the couples succeed with love.
“Anna (Buckley) is skeptical of the positive result she’s received with her longtime partner, so she starts working in a love institute as an assistant to Trevor (Ahmed), a mysterious, dedicated instructor,” the official plot read.
The project is backed by Oscar winner Cate Blanchett‘s Dirty Films that she co-founded with her husband Andrew Upton and FilmNation Entertainment .
In a joint statement, Blanchett and the Dirty Films crew said, "The unique and phenomenal talents of Jessie and Riz will perfectly capture the strange humour, heart and pathos embedded in the core of Fingernails. We are thrilled to welcome them and the wonderful team at FilmNation aboard to bring Christos Nikou’s profound vision to life.”
Buckley is known for her performances in movies such as Wild Rose, Judy, The Lost Daughter and * I’m Thinking of Ending Things* whereas Ahmed was seen in Sound of Metal, Venom, Encounter and The Long Goodbye for which he recently won an Oscar.
