New season of Koffee with Karan dropping in June this year
Get your coffee pots brewing because Koffee with Karan is back! Indian filmmaker and host Karan Johar is ready with his list of celebrity friends who may be holding a cup of coffee, but will be spilling some piping hot tea.
“Karan is currently shooting for Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and it’s in May when he will wrap up a major chunk of the film. One calling it a schedule wrap, Karan will commence his work on his chat show, Koffee with Karan. The planning and pre-production has already begun and the team is now all ready to start shooting from mid-May,” a source close to the development told Pinkvilla. The show will expectedly go on air in June on Star Network.
The star-studded guest list includes actors such as Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Sidharth Malhotra, Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif and Siddhant Chaturvedi who are expected to be featured this season. Newlyweds Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt will also make their first onscreen appearance as a married couple on Koffee with Karan season 7.
Johar is working on multiple projects — his next directorial with Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Ranveer Singh and Bhatt is set to release on February 10, 2023. He has produced Jug Jugg Jeeyo, Liger, Brahmastra, Mr and Mrs Mahi, Govinda Naam Mera and Selfie, among other films. The director is also working on some things for OTT platforms.
People love watching their favourite celebrities behind the scenes, which is why Koffee with Karan has been quite popular over the years. The show has sparked some controversy both within the borders — his altercation with Kanagana Ranaut — and across it — Johar's refusal to engage with Pakistani talent because he 'respects' Indian sentiments. Despite the drama, when the stars align and happen to bump into each other like Fahad Mirza and Sarwat Gilani did with Johar, it's all good.
