Bollywood's Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar are now married
Bollywood actor and ace filmmaker Farhan Akhtar tied the knot with singer Shibani Dandekar today (Feb 19) at his father Javed Akhtar's farmhouse in Mahrashtra.
The couple had been in the news for their wedding as reports first suggested that they would get married on Feb 21. The reports were then revised to state that they would get married on Feb 19 in a traditional Maharashtrian wedding. Photos of the couple surfacing on social media suggest that theirs was a contemporary event where they exchanged vows under a flower arch in the garden of the farmhouse. Only close friends and family have been spotted at the event.
In the first photos from the wedding, the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara actor looks dapper in a black tuxedo paired with what looks like a white broach and classic black sunglasses. The bride wore a fitted red and cream gown. The outfit had a red veil matching the dress' floral pattern on its hem and was paired with red sling-back heels from Aquazzura.
The couple exchanged vows in front of a backdrop of red and pink flowers that complemented the bride's look. According to Times of India the groom's father recited a poem for the couple after the ceremony. Indian media outlets shared videos of Farhan making an entry on 'Sooraj ki Baahon Mein', a song from his film starring Abhay Deol, Katrina Kaif, Hrithik Roshan and Kalki Koechlin.
The couple also shook a leg on John Legend's 'All of Me' post wedding as everyone hit the dance floor. According to a clip shared by India Today the couple also danced to film Dil Chahta Hai's theme song. The 2001 film marked Farhan's directorial debut. Musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy that sung the song in the film performed it live at the event.
According to the Times of India, the wedding was attended by celebrities such as Hrithik Roshan, Rhea Chakraborty, Ashutosh Gowariker, Satish Shah, Saqib Saleem and Amrita Arora.
