Dinosaurs are back for one last roar as Jurassic World: The Dominion releases new trailer

The third film of the Jurassic World series and sixth instalment of the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World: The Dominion just released a trailer and dinosaurs will take over the world one more time on June 10.

"This summer, experience the epic conclusion to the Jurassic era as two generations unite for the first time. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are joined by Oscar-winner Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill in Jurassic World: The Dominion, a bold, timely and breathtaking new adventure that spans the globe," Universal Pictures captioned the trailer.

Dominion takes place in the present day, four years after Isla Nublar — the location of the Jurassic Park — was destroyed. In this setting, genetically engineered dinosaurs live alongside humans all over the world. "This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures."

We're in for an exciting farewell as cast members of the original Jurassic Park series will join the cast of Jurassic World in the film. Along with Pratt and Howard, it includes Laura Dern as Dr Ellie Sattler, Sam Neill as Alan Grant and Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcolm and new members such as DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It), Emmy nominee Mamoudou Athie (Archive 81), Dichen Lachman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Scott Haze (Minari) and Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man 2).

The trailer seems to raise the question of whether there can be peaceful cohabitation between the humans and the dinosaurs, juxtaposing Pratt trying to be gentle with the creatures of nature and to "protect" them and the image of dinosaurs causing mayhem. “Humans and dinosaurs cannot coexist. We created an ecological disaster,” Dern says in the trailer.

It also features the battle and chase between humans and the creatures as the Goldblum says, “We not only lack dominion over nature, we’re subordinate to it.”

Universal Pictures released a prologue in Nov 2021 to offer a glimpse into the new landscape. "This original 5 min prologue to Jurassic World Dominion, directed by Colin Trevorrow, rockets audiences back 65 million years into the past to experience the world before humans existed—and offers a glimpse of a world in which dinosaurs are living among us."

The film is from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment with Trevorrow, Steven Spielberg and Alexandra Derbyshire as executive producers, and Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley as producers.
