'There will never be another Lata Mangeshkar': Mahira Khan, Babar Azam pay tribute to late singer

Legendary Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away on Sunday, a month after being hospitalised for Covid-19. The singer had been admitted to a Mumbai hospital and had been in and out of the intensive care due to deteriorating health. The 92-year-old was reportedly suffering from pneumonia along with Covid.

Her death shook many music fans in both India, where she was from, and Pakistan, where she had a massive fan following. Among her many fans are Pakistan's celebrities.

Prime Minister Imran Khan took to Twitter to mourn the loss and said with her death, "the subcontinent has lost one of the truly great singers the world has known".

Actor Mahira Khan posted a photo on Instagram of a young Mangeshkar and declared that there will never be another.

Bilal Maqsood shared his rendition of 'Ajib Dastan Hai Yeh' from the 1960s film Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai to pay tribute to the late singer.

"You were the voice to my every feeling in this world," wrote actor Samina Peerzada. "You will live in my memories and in my heart forever till eternity. Rest in power in the new realm."

Actors Osman Khalid Butt and Saba Qamar also tweeted about Mangeshkar, paying tribute to the legacy of music she leaves behind.

Actor Ushna Shah believes Mangeshkhar made the world a better place with her music.

Cricketer Babar Azam also tweeted about Mangeshkar and how her death is the "end of a golden era."

Indian music composer AR Rehman tweeted his "love, respect and prayers" for the singer.

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan wrote that the death of Mangeshkar has left him "heartbroken and speechless". "We are privileged to have lived in the times of the great Lata Mangeshkar," he said.

Actor and director Farhan Akhtar took to Instagram to share a photo of the singer with a note for her. "I guess this is what it feels like to lose a part of a nation's source of collective pride and joy. It hurts and leaves an indelible void. Sad, sad day," wrote the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara star.

Actors Kajol and Preity Zinta also shared pictures of Mangeshkar and some words about her.

Both actors have lip-synced to many Mangeshkar songs in their films, be it Kajol's 'Tujhe Dekha Toh' from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge or Zinta's 'Do Pal' from Veer-Zara.

Mangeshkar was given a state funeral, which was attended by some of the biggest names in Bollywood, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Aamir Khan, Asha Bhosle and Shraddha Kapoor.

As tributes continue to pour in and people remember the late singer, there's one thing everyone agrees on — there will never be another Lata Mangeshkar.
