Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan released from jail after 28 days
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan has finally arrived home after spending three weeks in jail in a case relating to the possession of drugs.
The 23-year-old left the Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai Saturday morning, according to the Times of India. He was granted bail by the Bombay High Court on Thursday but wasn’t released till Saturday as his lawyers missed the 5:30pm deadline to submit his documents. Actor Juhi Chawla submitted a 100,000 INR surety for him on Friday.
As part of his bail, Aryan will have to surrender his passport and report to the NCB office every Friday.
He arrived at his family home Mannat to a huge crowd of his father's fans.
They played the dhol to celebrate his release.
Crowds of reporters had also gathered for his return.
His home, Mannat, was also decorated to celebrate his return and Diwali.
Twenty-three-year-old Aryan was arrested by India's Narcotics Control Bureau during an October 2 raid on a cruise ship in Mumbai along with two others and charged with possession of narcotics. He was remanded into NCB custody till October 7 and presented in court. He was presented in court again on October 8, October 14 and October 20 his bail plea was rejected each time. He then finally approached the Bombay High Court and was granted relief after three straight days of hearings.
The NCB said it recovered 13 grams of cocaine, five grams of MD, 21 grams of charas and 22 pills of MDMA, and 133,000 INR during the raid, however, none of the recovered narcotics were in Aryan’s possession. The NCB argued that that was immaterial and said he was a “regular consumer of drugs” according to his WhatsApp conversations. Aryan's lawyer, on the other hand, contended that the conversations were taken out of context and did not relate to the use of drugs.
