Adele makes a musical comeback after six years with single 'Easy on Me'
British singer Adele has returned after a six-year hiatus with her latest single titled 'Easy on Me'. The 15-time Grammy winner has returned with her fourth studio album named 30 which is to be released on November 19.
The new album is also said to be based on her “inner turmoil” and battle after her divorce with Simon Konecki in 2019. That means it’s time to collect our tissue boxes because boy we’re about to be sad.
The single goes from a cinematic black and white to a colourful palette of autumn hues and speaks about a heartbreak with a mournful tune. It is as tear-jerking and moving as it can get and has racked up almost 20 million views in 11 hours.
The soaring notes and a little bit of piano is all we needed between the constant upbeat R&B songs and disco revival. Fans have taken over social media platforms to express their excitement about the latest single.
The song also pays homage to Adele’s 2015 hit single 'Hello'. The two music videos seem to have been filmed in the same place but 'Easy on Me' shows the singer walking out of the house with a briefcase, as if the 33-year-old is bidding farewell to her old self. ‘Easy on Me’ is as tear-jerking and moving as it can get and has racked up almost almost 20 million views on YouTube in 11 hours.
On Wednesday, the artist had shared a detailed post on Instagram and revealed what went into the much-awaited album. “I was certainly nowhere near where I’d hoped to be when I first started it nearly three years ago. Quite the opposite actually,” said the 'Someone Like You' singer. “I rely on routine and consistency to feel safe, I always have and yet there I was knowingly — willingly even, throwing myself into a maze of absolute mess and inner turmoil.”
“I’ve learned a lot of blistering home truths about myself along the way I’ve shed many layers but also wrapped myself in new ones. Discovered genuinely useful and wholesome mentalities to lead with and I feel like I’ve finally found my feelings again. I’d go as far as to say that I’ve never felt more peaceful in my life. And so, I’m ready to finally put this album out.”
Rapper Drake also showed support for Adele's new song.
American actor Alicia Silverstone, best known as Cher from Clueless, also shared a clip perfectly nailing all of our emotions.
Following the same pattern as before, Adele’s upcoming album won’t feature any collaborations sadly, though we can expect them in the near future. We can already picture Adele singing along with Dua Lipa or Lady Gaga or at least hope it happens soon.
