Hadiqa Kiani holds no grudges against the Lux Style Awards for not nominating Raqeeb Se
Singer Hadiqa Kiani recently took to Instagram to publicly talk about the glaring lack of nominations for her drama Raqeeb Se at the Lux Style Awards 2021, saying she understands the reason behind the decision.
Kiani had made her debut with the television drama Raqeeb Se, starring alongside big names such as Naumaan Ijaz, Sania Saeed and Iqra Aziz. The play was written by Bee Gul, directed by Kashif Nisar and was a Momina Duraid production for Hum TV.
The Lux Style Awards recently announced its nominations in the music, fashion and television categories. In a message to her followers, Kiani talked about her drama not being nominated at the LSAs for a good reason.
"I've gotten so many messages of love and support for Sakina and Raqeeb Se today but something that needs to be clarified," she wrote. "Raqeeb Se did not qualify for this year's Lux Style Awards but it may qualify for nominations next year based off of the Lux Style Awards' year policy. So until then, let's hold our pitchforks.
"Congratulations to all nominees," Kiani added at the end.
For Kiani, Raqeeb Se had been a passion project that had proved to be a wonderful experience. In a previous conversation with Images, the 'Boohey Barian' singer had commented how she'd come to prepare herself for the endeavour.
"It was a totally new world for me but Nauman told me one thing — 'You will have to negate your thoughts, yourself and your personality, and you have to become that character. Once you do that, you will be true to your character.' I think this advice of his is going to stay with me for the rest of my life," she had said.
The drama, much loved by viewers and critics alike, revolved around the story of Sakina — played by Kiani — who flees from her abusive husband alongside her daughter and finds refuge at the home of her former lover.
