'We don't deserve a media trial': Shilpa Shetty breaks silence on husband's arrest on pornography charges
Exhausted from the barrage of rumours, accusations and trolling, Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty has finally broken her silence on social media on husband Raj Kundra's arrest over his involvement in the creation of adult films and pornography.
The Life In A Metro star took to Twitter to post a statement on behalf of her family.
Admitting that the past few days have been challenging, to say the least, the star opened up about the situation. "There have been a lot of rumours and accusations. A lot of unwarranted aspersions on me cast by the media and (not so) well wishers as well. A lot of trolling/questions posed... not only to me but also to my family," she opened up, asking people to stop attributing false quotes to her.
"MY STAND... I HAVE NOT COMMENTED YET," she wrote in all caps. "Reiterating my philosophy of, as a celebrity 'Never complain, never explain'. All I will say is, as it's an ongoing investigation. I have full faith in the Mumbai Police and the judiciary. As a family, we are taking recourse to all our available legal remedies."
Shetty then requested the public to respect her family's privacy for her children’s sake, asking people to refrain from commenting on half-baked information without verifying it first.
"I am a proud law-abiding Indian citizen and a hardworking professional for the last 29 years. People have put their faith in me and I've never let anyone down. So most importantly, I request you to respect my family’s and ‘my right’ to privacy in these times. We don't deserve media trial. Please let the law take its course," she wrote.
Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai police for allegedly producing and broadcasting pornographic films online six years after the businessman was banned from cricket-related activities over match-fixing charges.
The 45-year-old was labelled “the key conspirator” in a case involving the creation and publication of adult films via internet apps.
