What is an Aurat Card and how do we get one?

Women of Pakistan, have you ever had an argument with someone and just when you're about to win, they say you're playing the 'Aurat Card'? What exactly is the Aurat Card and why does everyone say women play it all the time?

If you were to ask angry men, the Aurat Card, or Woman Card, is played in any situation when a woman seems to have gained the upper hand or is doing anything. Got a promotion at work after months of hard work? Must have played the Aurat Card. Weren't asked to pay a fine by a policeman even though you did nothing wrong? It's that darn Aurat Card again. Called out someone for harassment? Aurat Card, Aurat Card, Aurat Card.

We aren't sure about you, but we've never seen an Aurat Card before, or maybe we're not part of this exclusive club that gets to have one. But many angry netizens (mostly male) seem to know a lot about these cards. They throw the phrase around all the time. But perhaps they don't know what it means either.

"Speaking about women's rights, challenging the negative stereotypes against women, being able to dream and achieve big, making your own life decisions — this is the Aurat Card.

"Giving women a voice — this is the Aurat Card. For a woman to talk about domestic affairs, politics, law, sports, or anything that a woman specialises or takes interest in — this is Aurat Card. Because our card, our choice."
