Happy Women's Day from Pakistan's celebrities to you

Women should celebrate their womanhood every day, and even more so on International Women's Day. To celebrate women, a number of celebrities, both male and female, have taken to social media with messages of support.

Women's Day has been celebrated every March 8 since 1911 and serves as a reminder of the battles fought by women in the political, economic and social spheres for their gender.

It also serves as a call to action for people to uplift, understand and acknowledge women and their contributions to society.

This year, we have compiled a list of celebrities who are playing their part in reminding us of the importance of International Women’s Day and reminding us about the issues women face.

Churail’s star Sarwat Gillani has come under fire for her views on feminism in the recent past when she said she doesn't consider herself a feminist. This year she wished all the amazing women she knew on her Instagram. “May your strength and courage always prevail,” she wrote.

Laal Kabootar actor Mansha Pasha took to social media with a question for her followers. She asked “What are the challenges you face as a woman?” The answers were depressing and ranged from harassment to forced conversion. She posted over 40 responses on her Instagram Stories.

Actor Maira Khan reposted a video from Hollywood actor Taraji P Henson for Women's Day. The video includes a speech made by Angela Basset speaking about the experiences of Black women but the message was universal: women are more than enough.

Minal Khan supports sisterhood this Women's Day.

Cricketer Shoaib Malik wished all women and said he hopes they have happiness, love and success, because they deserve everything.

Actor Zhalay Sarhadi’s post for International Women Day focused on a very important issue: family planning. Issues like these need to be talked about and Women’s Day is the perfect springboard for it.

Everyone's favourite ally Osman Khalid Butt took to Twitter to wish women happy Women's Day, especially the ones at the Aurat March.

Happy Women's Day everyone!
