Kangana Ranaut lashes out following reports of film critic Rajeev Masand becoming COO Dharma Productions
The latest news on the block is that film critic Rajeev Masand is allegedly joining the blockbuster Dharma Productions as its new Chief Operating Officer.
According to Bollywood Hungama, Masand is all set to join next week and will be working as the COO of the company. "Karan and other top authorities at Dharma believe that he’ll be the right person for the job and help them in scouting fresh talent and managing them,” read the article.
On whether Masand would still work as a journalist, the response was unclear.
"He has been heard saying that he’s taking a sabbatical from journalism. However, looking at other journalists who quit the field completely when getting into film production and related business, it seems like Rajeev Masand, too, would go the same way," a source was quoted as saying.
The news did not sit well with Kangana Ranaut, who is known for having an opinion — intense and mostly negative, at that — about everything.
"Rajeev wrote the most poisonous blind items about Sushant and me. He openly licked mediocre star kids and gave negative reviews to genuinely good films. Even as a journalist, he was always Karan Johar's minion. Good he left journo facade and joined KJO officially," she posted.
However, this wasn't all. The Tanu Weds Manu actor further took this opportunity to point out how the industry lacks ethics, with the "movie mafia" controlling all aspects of media and publications to turn them in their own favour, running smear campaigns against those not considered 'their own'.
"This is how movie mafia hijacks key people in every place," she pointed out. "Agents/critics/journalists/distributors/award jury, they plant their minions in your personal life to ruin you from every angle. They ban you and ruin your image. Many succumb, few survive. Need strict laws in movie industry."
Masand, ex-boyfriends or nepotism aren't the only topics to be brought under scrutiny by Ranaut.
Previously, the Queen star also took a jab at Tapsee Pannu, a newcomer to the industry, who she called a "cheap copy" of herself. "She is a true fan, dedicated her whole existence to study and impersonate me to the point of desolution," she had mocked.
