You don't have to be conventionally good-looking to be a hero, shares Imran Ashraf

Imran Ashraf gained popularity playing a trans character in Alif Allah Aur Insaan and made waves after his exceptional acting in Ranjha Ranjha Kardi but the actor has faced his fair share of criticism.

Imran played the role of a person with mental health issues in Ranjha Ranjha Kardi

In his latest interview with Haroon Rashid, the actor was asked if people often laugh at him for doing such characters to which he said, "People did laugh at me. For 10 years, people have laughed at me. For eight years, I have tolerated peoples' jokes. People used to call me a minor supporting actor.

These are the words I heard but I had a belief that I was going to do this, I kept asking God for help. I kept working hard and look now."

He added, "Looks don’t matter, my character does. There's a hero in every street, so the unconventional can also be a hero. I am doing art and in art, there isn’t any need for six-packs, deep eyes and pretty hair. And in the process, if some norms are being challenged then so be it."

Kudos to him for opening up about rigid beauty standards in the entertainment industry.
