Benedict Cumberbatch's parents didn't approve of his career as an actor
Last seen in Avengers: Endgame, Benedict Cumberbatch is all set to revive as Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange in the recently announced, second spin-off of Marvel cinematic series, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The Sherlock star has to be one of the most loved, British actors in Hollywood. But while everyone else is all praises for him, Cumberbatch himself feels sad to have let his parents down.
According to the actor, parents Wanda Ventham and Timothy Carlton ”scrimped and saved” so he could attain the best of education and become a “doctor or lawyer” but he chose to be an actor instead.
"They scrimped and saved to get their only son the very best education possible. And I took that education threw it all in their face and became an actor anyway. To this day, one of the reasons I get out of bed in the morning is to make them proud of me,” Cumberbatch told The Lady magazine.
Doctor in real life or not, Cumberbatch will be playing Doctor Strange in reel life.
The Marvel Studios project, to be directed by Scott Derrickson also stars Elizabeth Olsen and is scheduled to release on May 7, 2021.
