Adnan Malik fangirling over Malala caught Hollywood's attention

Try not to be jealous but Adnan Malik didn't just get to watch the amazing Pakistan vs New Zealand match yesterday, he also met Malala Yousufzai and discussed the movie, Booksmart with her!

Yesterday was a very happening day for the Cake actor and he took to Instagram to share it all.

Firstly, he got to meet Malala Yousufzai, and finding himself in the perfect place, he made a video with her in which they said "My favourite thing about Booksmart is...Malala!".

Booksmart is a 2019 American coming-of-age comedy film directed by Olivia Wilde. Malik raved about it and wrote, "So I saw @booksmart a week or so ago in London and was COMPLETELY & UTTERLY inspired by @oliviawilde’s debut feature as a director. It was razor-sharp funny, had gorgeously crafted performances, an incredible soundtrack. This is the DEFINITIVE coming of age film for how I see Gen-z today. And is exactly the kind of thing in substance and tone that I've been wanting to make in Pakistan!".

In the movie, the best friend duo, Amy and Molly use the word “Malala” as their code wor for a once-a-year, unrefusable favour from each other.

And he didn't just meet Malala; he also met APS survivor, Walid Khan, Ali Tareen and Khadija Siddiqui.

Malik continued in his Instagram post, "And so today, when I met @malala (for the first time ever properly) at the cricket match in Edgbaston, England my synapses surged and I could not NOT make this video. It was a moment of deep empowerment to bring these worlds together! I felt like I was the only one who could facilitate this one very specific thing to help make a real connection happen."

He added, "And as a Pakistani who studied in the States but lives in Pakistan now, I often feel like I’m not part of the global conversation on culture and the arts. So this was my small way of engaging in something that’s very 'now'."

Adnan Malik was super excited about being featured on Booksmart's Instagram

That's not all; thanks to the power of the internet, Malik's post got picked up by the Booksmart Instagram acount!

"The Booksmart insta page reposted it, and then Olivia, Katie and Beanie reposted it on Twitter and then Kaitlyn inboxed me and we had a brief chat! And it’s been snowballing across the Internet since. I made a meme-sized video that connected me straight to the makers of the film all the way across the world! And the whole thing made me really happy, because for a moment it connected me in a deeper way to the film that I have loved so much", Malik wrote.

Fans loved seeing Malala's response

Gotta love social media for connecting people all across the globe!
