Reza Aslan will be speaking in Karachi next month

The world-renowned writer, commentator and professor, Dr Reza Aslan, is coming to Karachi!

Aslan, who also attended Lahore Literary Festival last year will be giving a talk on “Why Do We Believe” as part of Habib University’s fifth Yohsin Lecture.

Raza Aslan is the author of bestsellers like Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth and No God but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam, which have been translated into dozens of languages around the world. He is also a recipient of the prestigious James Joyce Award. Born in Iran, he now lives in Los Angeles.

The Yohsin Lecture series is Habib University’s flagship public lecture series, with the aim of encouraging thoughtful intellectual engagement by inviting world renowned international scholars to Pakistan who excel in their fields. Previous speakers include Deborah K. Fitzgerald (former Dean of the MIT School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences), Dr. Vali Nasr (Dean for School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University) as well as Maria Klawe (President of Harvey Mudd College).

Aslan studied Religious Studies from Santa Clara University for his undergrad, a Master's degree in Theological Studies from Harvard University, a PhD in the Sociology of Religions from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa.

The event, which is happening on 13 June will take place at H.M. Auditorium, Habib University. Guests can register for the event here.
