Wedding rom-com Chhalawa promises laughs and tears in new trailer

Eid flick Chhalawa released its trailer yesterday and like a lot of rom-coms based around a wedding, we're expecting to be taken in an emotional roller-coaster while watching this film!

Directed by Wajahat Rauf (Karachi Se Lahore, Lahore Se Aagey), Chhalawa stars Mehwish Hayat as a young woman being pushed to marry against her will. Her actual love interest Azfar Rehman then arrives in her Punjabi hometown to win over her father.

Zara Noor Abbas and Asad Siddiqui play Mehwish's sister and Azfar's friend respectively. Confidants of the lead couple, they appear to have quirks and a storyline of their own. Mahmood Aslam stars as Mehwish's father in the film.

The film is slightly reminiscent of Punjab Nahi Jaungi with the haveli backdrop and Mehwish playing yet another reluctant bride.

Speaking at the trailer launch yesterday, Rehman called the film a family entertainer with great music to boot. Director Wajahat Rauf was quite confident to see the response to the trailer and hoped the film is also met with the same level of enthusiasm.

We'll have a full picture of what the film has in store for us when it releases on Eid ul Fitr.
