Shaz Khan gets martial arts training from MMA legend Rafael Cordeiro for his next film
Parwaaz Hai Junoon star Shaz Khan is deep in preparation for his next indie film The Martial Artist.
The actor has been training in the martial arts in California and is being coached by none other than MMA champion Rafael Cordeiro.
After a 13-year fighting career in Brazil, Cordeiro quickly acquired a reputation for being one of the best MMA coaches in the world. He has trained 13 world champions and trains fighters from UFC, Bellator, Glory Kickboxing and many other international shows, according to his profile on his gym Kings MMA's website.
According to publicity reports, Khan is being trained in boxing, jiu jitsu and Muay Thai.
In an Instagram post, Shaz said he hoped to "humanize the fighters and the often misunderstood sport, which is a true combination of science and art." He added that the fighters are "humble with an insatiable appetite to grow" and have "hearts as big as their will".
In an earlier interview, Shaz said he plays "a desi martial artist who fights in California... and eventually ends up coming back to Pakistan."
He added, "It's a spiritual story but disguised as a martial artist's story."
The release date of the film is yet to be announced.
