7 of our favourite looks from the Ambani wedding

Bollywood pulled out its most luxe wear for the Ambani wedding and the result was gold.

The Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal wedding saw the Indian film industry's A-listers and they were all dressed to impress. There were of course, lehenga cholis (lots of lehenga cholis) and saris.

We cherry picked our favourites from the event.

Best saris

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone's all about saris, in case you didn't notice she wore one to her reception, the Ambani sangeet and now their wedding, Her customised saree by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla featured an embroidered full-sleeve blouse with a dramatic pallu. Go big or go home, eh?

Deepika looking fiery in a customised sari.

What worked were the minimal accessories and neat side-parted bun. She let the outfit do the talking without going OTT, which we can't say for most of the celebs who attended the wedding.

Shilpa Shetty

Shilpa Shetty's Tarun Tahiliani sari looked like it was made for her. The almost sheer ensemble hugged her in all the right places and complemented her skin tone.

Shilpa working that sari.

Needless to say she had to make it to our list.

Karisma Kapoor

The Kapoor-Khan clan dressed in all white to the event and their triplet act was on point, and though all three won us over, Karisma Kapoor's Raw Mango sari is worth mentioning.

White will always be a classic.

The star kept it simple with an updo and some flowers in her hair. She steered clear of heavy makeup, or even a statement red lippy like Deeps, which in our opinion works!

Best lehngas:

Janhvi Kapoor

Jahnvi Kapoor has become a constant on best-dressed lists and shows no signs of slowing down. The rising star is practically ace designer, Manish Malhotra's muse so we were expecting her to wear something from his label for the biggest wedding of the year. However, she chose this funky Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla outfit for the wedding and we're digging it!

You can tell Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla's embellishments from a mile away!

She wore a slinky, golden blouse with a deep red lehenga with chunky quintessential Khosla embroidery and coupled it with big, bold earrings and muted, matte make-up. Big win!

Sonam Kapoor

Sonam took a cue from Mean Girls and wore pink on pink on pink for the Ambani wedding on Wednesday night -- and somehow, made it work!

Pretty in pink, you bet!

Kapoor wore a custom hot pink Anamika Khanna number with the slogan, 'Everything is AK-OK' similar to the one her sister, Rhea wore to the DeepVeer wedding. The outfits were also styled the same way, with OTT jewels and worn with their hair down and we gotta say, we loved both looks.

We used to think slogans on formal wear were a little tacky but Khanna has executed the designs with finesse and we feel like this is one trend that's going to catch on!

Kareena Kapoor Khan

No surprises here, Bebo looked like a total babe in her white hot ensemble by Anita Dongre. Mohit Rai, her stylist accessorised with delicate but statement jewels, like a loud teeka and dangly earrings. From the black nail varnish adding just a tiny pop of colour to the dewy, bronzey make-up, every tiny detail complemented each other.

Making a case for all white everything

Personally, we'd be mad if someone showed up to our wedding looking THIS good; she has noooo right to look this beautiful (if you know, you know).

Alia Bhatt

Clad in a beautiful blue and ivory embroidered lehenga by Manish Malhotra, Bhatt showed up at the Ambani wedding looking like royalty. While the print is what we also want our wedding china to look like, it also somehow works as an unconventional lehnga choli!

Love the unexpected colour combination!

Bhatt chose to let her clothes and chandelier earrings do the talking, keeping her makeup neutral and putting her hair in a bun with a middle parting. Very understated chic, very sophisticated.
