Sonali Bendre returns to Mumbai after months of treatment in New York

Sonali Bendre is heading back home to Mumbai and says her heart has "grown fonder" from the distance.

The Bollywood actor who has been battling high-grade cancer and was undergoing treatment in NY since July posted a farewell note on Instagram saying, "And now I’m on my way back to where my heart is. It’s a feeling I can’t describe in words but I’m going to try - it’s the joy to see my family and friends again, the excitement to do what I love and mainly the gratitude for the journey I’ve had up until this moment. The fight is not yet over...but I’m happy and looking forward to this happy interval."

A source close to her said: "Sonali never let cancer affect her life.She bravely fought cancer and is a survivor. The doctors have advised her rest and she returns to Mumbai as she misses the city and her friends and family here. It is a big homecoming for her. Sonali has always been a shining example of a strong woman and handled her ordeal in the most dignified and positive manner."

In July, the 43-year-old revealed on social media that she was battling high-grade cancer and Bollywood was quick to send her love and support. Many even flew to New York to see her including Priyanka Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan, Neetu Kapoor and more.
