Nick Jonas slid into Priyanka Chopra's DMs and other details you never knew about their whirlwind romance

It's wedding season in Bollywood!

Now that #DeepVeer is kind of wrapped up (kind of being the key phrase there), the next big shindig we've got our eye on is Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra's nuptials.

The week-long festivities began on Monday, November 26 with a dinner party. On Wednesday, Chopra’s mother Dr Madhu Chopra invited the wedding party to her Mumbai home for a traditional puja ceremony; the two are set to tie the knot this Sunday, 2 December in Jodhpur.

But how did the two fall in love? For Vogue's January cover story, the pair opened up about their relationship candidly, spilling secrets like the fact that Jonas got down on one knee the first time they actually met! Excerpts follow:

The two had been texting for a while after Jonas scored her number by sliding into her Twitter DMs and when he saw her at the Vanity Fair Oscars party, he was blown away.

“And I put my drink down," says Jonas, "get on one knee—this is in front of a bunch of people—and I say, ‘You’re real. Where have you been all my life?’ Like, loud.” Even though Priyanka had a flight to catch to India, she couldn't say no to a drink. A year and a half later, he proposed.

Chopra can pinpoint the moment she knew he was the one; she was on a date with him and he says to her, “I love the way you look at the world. I love the drive you have.”

“As a girl, I’ve never had a guy tell me, ‘I like your ambition.' It’s always been the opposite,” she shared.

Interestingly enough, before Nick, Priyanka had never really admitted to dating anyone: "I’ve had that rule my whole life. Never publicly acknowledge a relationship. Ever.”

But she's a different person with him. "What is happening? I’ve not known myself like this,” she says. “This guy turned me into such a girl! If I could blush, I’d be tomato red right now," adds the Quantico leading lady.

And Jonas isn't any less smitten by her. Talking about their second meeting, he says, "She walks into the Chateau, and I feel an overwhelming sense of peace and understanding about this next chapter of my life.” The next night, they attend a Dodgers game. The following morning, Jonas called his mother and informed her that he was going to marry Chopra.

“This is date three,” Chopra says.

He proposed in Crete, on a trip Chopra thought was a birthday getaway.

“I got down on one knee, again, and I said: Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?” Jonas says. “No joke—she took about 45 seconds. Forty-five seconds of silence.” Chopra says she was merely speechless. Jonas pressed on. “I’m going to put this ring on your finger now unless you have any objections.”

As for the wedding celebrations, Chopra promises they're going to be OTT: "People will need vacations after this wedding." Jonas will dress in traditional attire — turban, sword, the works—and he’ll ride in on a horse.

“Are you comfortable on a horse?” it suddenly occurs to Chopra to ask.

“I am,” Jonas says. “I can’t wait.”
