Tom Hanks may star in Disney's Pinocchio remake

Tom Hanks is set to appear in Toy Story 4 but Disney may be roping him in for a remake too.

The actor is in early talks to join the live-action adaptation of Pinocchio, the classic tale of a puppet that comes to life and learns what it takes to be a real boy. If on board, Hanks will be playing the puppet maker and father to Pinocchio, Geppeto.

The script for the reboot is still in the works but Variety reports that Paddington's director Paul King is on board and has done the recent draft for the project.

Disney has been on a roll with their live-action remakes as they hope to revive their stories for the new generations to come - even though their films have been iconic enough to exist all through this time. 2019 will see three remakes releasing; Dumbo in March, Aladdin in May and The Lion King in June.

Tom Hanks is also reprising his role as Sheriff Woody for Toy Story 4, slated to release June 20.
