The Lion King remake's teaser trailer captures the essence of its original
We can either run away from the past or learn from it, and from the looks of it, Jon Favreau learned and treated it right.
The highly anticipated remake of the 1994 classic The Lion King got its first teaser trailer and fans of the original will breathe a sigh of relief as from what we can see, Favreau keeps the magic of the classic intact.
Get ready for goosebumps as James Earl Jones, reprising his role as the magnificent King Mufasa, narrates the teaser with iconic lines we all grew up listening to. The beautiful scenes, all too reminiscent of the classic's story-line, are played to Hans Zimmer's composition of The Circle of Life and yes, we really love the original and we love the nostalgia at play here.
We genuinely do; the the design of the live action remake had more colour to it to depict the magic that was in the original. While there are similar shots, the lack of the right colour gradient takes away from the intense beauty that make the original the classic work of art that it is.
But, can we also talk about how cute baby Simba is?
And we also realise we're going to be seeing Mufasa leave us all over again. Deep breaths.
The Lion King remake boasts a stellar cast with Donald Glover, Beyonce and Chiwetel Ejiofor taking up the mantle of our favourite characters.
