Meera says she's playing the lead role in Saqib Malik's Baaji
Remember when it was wrongly rumoured that Saqib Malik's directing a Meera biopic?
Now we know where that rumour may have come from. The first look at his debut feature film Baaji's cast was released yesterday and it features Meera alongside Osman Khalid Butt, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Amna Ilyas, Ali Kazmi, Nayyar Ejaz and Nisho!
And according to Meera, she is playing the lead character in the film.
"The shoot is going on right now and I play the title character who will be referred to as Baaji," Meera shared with Images.
According to a press release, Baaji is "a social drama/thriller set against the backdrop of a fading Lollywood and the emerging new order of the Pakistan film industry."
Amna Ilyas added while talking to Images, "It's a film with strong female characters... so far it looks very good! We have a song to shoot and I think we'll be done then."
About taking on the project, Mohsin Abbas Haider said, "As an actor, Baaji really appealed to me. We do a lot of commercial work but this is different. I hope it does well here."
Mohsin Abbas Haider chipped in, "We're done with most of the shooting, there's just a little work left now. It's going amazingly so far. I've worked on a few commercials with Saqib and [his brother and filmmaker] Adnan Malik and they'd always say they'd cast me should they ever make a film and here we are. I'm very honoured that they meant what they said and see me as someone worth casting."
The actors stopped short of revealing any plot details but we have to say, we're fascinated by all that star power!
Baaji will release in mid-2019.
