Sridevi's case closed by Dubai police, remains handed over to family

Bollywood veteran actor Sridevi's body has been released by Dubai police, it was revealed in a tweet by Consulate General of India, Dubai.

Khaleej Times confirmed that her body was handed over to the family and that it was transported to a facility in the Muhaisna locality for embalming.

The Dubai government tweeted that Dubai Public Prosecution's investigation into her death has been closed.

Sridevi passed away unexpectedly on Saturday evening in Dubai where she was attending a family wedding. While it was initially reported that she died due to a heart attack, her post-mortem revealed that she died due to drowning. Sridevi's body was discovered in the bathtub of her hotel bathroom.

Her body is now being flown to India in a private jet; her husband Boney Kapoor and his son Arjun Kapoor are accompanying her body, reports Gulf News. Sridevi’s funeral is expected to take place in Mumbai on Wednesday.
