Suits star Patrick J. Adams is leaving the show

While Suits has been renewed for its eighth season, it seems like the show will have to go on without two main characters.

We knew Meghan Markle was leaving the show but it seems like her onscreen beau will also be bidding farewell to fans. Patrick J. Adams, who plays Mike Ross, has announced on Instagram that he will be exiting the legal drama at the end of the current seventh season

Adams described the past seven years as "life changing" and that he was looking forward to Suits' future without him. "Playing a character that so many people all over the world have connected with has been one of the great honours of my life," he shared.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Adams explained his decision to depart from the series: “I started thinking about leaving at the end of the first half of season six, after Mike was released from prison. From a story point of view, I was a little unsure of what was left for him to do. Mike had made the pledge during his trial that if he were allowed to continue to practice the law, he would dedicate his time and energy to underrepresented people and not big, corporate interests.”

Suits is USA Network's second-highest-rated scripted drama series and its creator Aaron Korsh revealed that the cast and crew are excited to continue "the roller coaster ride" with their audience.

"I would like to thank Patrick and Meghan for their extraordinary contributions over the last seven years. Season eight will have everything from shifting alliances and internal power plays, to secrets, betrayals and fiery relationships. Keep an eye out for an adversarial new character that will give Harvey a run for his money," said Korsh.
