Deepika Padukone's midriff covered up using special effects in new version of Padmaavat song

In their latest move to appease the Indian censor board (CBFC), the makers of Padmaavat have released a new version of the song 'Ghoomar' in which they've covered up Deepika Padukone's midriff using special effects.

According to Indian Express, covering her stomach was one of the five modifications that CBFC had demanded of the makers, following which they covered the actor’s midriff via CGI.

“The CBFC’s Examining Committee asked the film’s producers—the director was not present during the censor screening—to remove the shots where her stomach was visible. However, such editing would have disturbed the smooth choreographic flow of the elegant dance number. The director preferred to conceal Deepika’s belly through computer graphics,” a source who attended the film’s screening had earlier told The Quint.

In other news, Padmaavat will also be getting a solo release now come January 25. The period drama was earlier supposed to clash with Akshay Kumar’s PadMan but Kumar has postponed his release on the request of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The magnum opus, which is based on a fictionalised account of the legendary Rani Padmini's life, stars Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles.
