I felt the need to support new people in the industry: Ahsan Khan on signing Chupan Chupai

Photos of Ahsan Khan and Neelum Muneer romancing in the desert have been doing the rounds on social media, so we know that the shoot for their upcoming Chupan Chupai is in full swing.

But what is the film really about? Surely, it can't be a game of hide-and-seek.

Lead star Ahsan Khan says, "Chupan Chupai has a youth-oriented script. It's a comedy thriller about young jobless guys who want to make a quick buck. They resort to drastic measures like kidnapping and other gunda gardi. Of course, they have to face the consequences."

"The film's like Golmaal or Na Maloom Afraad or Wrong No.," he added.

This isn't surprising, given that Wrong No writer Mohsin Ali has written and directed it. Ahsan says Mohsin and his fellow National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) graduates like Zayed Sheikh (who's producing) and Vajdaan Shah and Ali Rizvi (who are acting) are bringing this film to life, and he wanted to lend his support to new people in the industry.

"NAPA is the only institution that produces a lot of talented actors and directors. The Chupan Chupai team is primarily made of NAPA grads and I felt if people are benefiting from my participation in the film, then I want to support them in that way. We need to support new people in the field."

The film also stars Neelum Muneer, NAPA veterans like Talat Hussain, Arshad Mehmood and Adnan Jaffer also feature in the film, alongside Sakina Samo, Javed Shiekh. Rehan Sheikh. Mani is said to make a guest appearance.

Chupan Chupai's music has been done by the band Soch, while it's been shot by X Factor cinematographer Jeffery Fountain.

Chupan Chupai is going to be a treat for cinemagoers, Ahsan believes. He says part of the reason he signed the film was also because it was offered to him while he was playing his dark, negative character in Udaari and he wanted some relief. "When I read the script, I had lots of fun. I thought I'd enjoy performing it too. And it was."
