Nawazuddin Siddiqui withdraws tell-all memoir from stands amid controversy

A week after Nawazuddin Siddiqui's autobiography An Ordinary Life: A Memoir hit stands, the actor has issued an apology and decided to pull the plug on the book.

After drawing flak for chronicling his relationships without consent, following a complaint reportedly registered with the National Commission for Women which accuses him of outraging the modesty of Miss Lovely co-star Niharika Singh, the Raees actor took to social media to make the announcement.

Singh called out Siddiqui for having "fabricated the story" of their fleeting relationship, whereas Siddiqui claimed that their relationship lasted for over a year. In the book, written by Rituparna Chatterjee, Siddiqui also spoke at length about his relationship with Sunita Rajwar, whose full name was not disclosed initially.

However Rajwar lashed out at the actor in a long Facebook post and called his biography "an ordinary life" of "extraordinary lies" also calling the actor a "sympathy seeker".

According to Indian Express, An Ordinary Life was gearing up for an official launch in early November but Siddiqui’s publishers, Penguin Random House have confirmed that won't be happening anymore.

“I can only confirm that we are withdrawing all copies of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s autobiography from the market; in fact, we have already done so,” says Hemali Sodhi, publisher, Penguin Random House.
