Channing Tatum turns superhero for upcoming Marvel movie Gambit
Channing Tatum is ready to be a mutant hero!
The Step Up actor has finally received a green signal from Twentieth Century Fox for his solo superhero movie Gambit.
Yes. Gambit is finally happening, with its release date slated for Valentine's Day 2019, Deadline revealed.
The film is based on the Marvel Comics character with the same name and is intended to be an instalment of the X-Men film series.
Otherwise known as Remy LeBeau, Gambit has the ability to charge matter with volatile kinetic energy, causing the object in question to explosively release its charge on impact. Gambit is well trained with a staff and is known for keeping a deck of cards for explosives.
The character was previously seen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), at the time portrayed by Taylor Kitsch.
Gambit has been under works for quite sometime since the last Marvel movie, Deadpool, came out three years ago. However, things seem promising as director Gore Verbinski joins Gambit's pre-production team.
Gambit will be Fox’s fifth X-Men spin-off in this current direction to hit theatres.
Though the film with its current working title has been in this situation quite a few times before, given the momentum Gambit has, it will be exciting to see how the project unfolds.
Will we see our favourite Cajun mutant partner up with other X-Men? Will there be cameos from other superheroes? Will there be romance between Gambit and Rogue (Comic book fans get this one!)? We'll just have to wait and see!
